PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2019

November 29, 2019

Only by attending Council meetings can you show your local Councillor that it matters to you.

Councillor Joe Neal will be once again be introducing his Motion to have the mapping of environmentally protected (EP) land limited to those areas mandated by the Province and by the Region of Durham.

Clarington’s Official Plan currently includes land designated as EP but without a protected natural feature. Some houses, driveways and parking lots are mapped as EP. Expanded EP lands on your property could affect its market value by 30% to 70%. It will certainly affect what you can do on your property and can mean having to hire your own environmental expert to apply for a building permit to add or expand a deck, shed or garage.

Do you understand why Council Members are voting against correcting Clarington’s rural mapping? Are you prepared to go through the lengthy and costly process of having an environmental review or assessment before you can proceed with your plans for your property?

PLAN TO ATTEND THE NEXT PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING ON MONDAY, DEC. 2ND AT 7 PM.
